It was an alternate (personal) history flood.

Characters were transformed into a version of themselves that made a different choice at some key moment in their past. It was a rolling flood, so characters could inhabit their alternate selves for the entire time, only a day or two, or go back and forth between their normal and alternate selves.

Like most events, it lasted a week.
